Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face—even Jacob.
The blessing that God gives is reserved for those who seek His face, for those who yearn for His presence, not for those who are going with their hands extended searching for something. Seek God wholeheartedly and we will reward the owner of all created things. We must understand that God will not deliver His own who are more interested in owning than the owner of things.
The Bible tells the story of Joseph, son of Jacob whom his brothers sold him into slavery. Joseph was even unjustly in prison in Egypt. When Pharaoh needed someone to interpret two dreams, Joseph was the only person able to. The king of Egypt saw in Joseph a person of integrity and entrusted him the administration of his kingdom. This allowed Joseph to become the second most powerful man in Egypt, since only the Pharaoh was upon him. Subsequently, the blessings Joseph received were extended to all his family.
In my walk with God, I have often perceived from my heavenly Father who has told me “Go to the mountain” or “Climb the mountain”. I had a hard time understanding what the Lord wanted me to go to the mountains. Chances are if you had told the same thing to me, you would have the same thing happened. But the very Word of God will reveal the mystery. Climb the mountain means seeking the presence of God, to enter the holy place. Under the old covenant, only the high priest had access to come once a year to present the offerings of atonement for sins. However, when Jesus died on the cross. The veil of the temple was torn completely exposing the Holy of Holies. Jesus is the way of access to the Father, who always waits for us to enjoy His presence.
Who is he who has clean hands and a pure heart? If we analyze ourselves, we can see that no one would on their own pass the test. The only person who has lived in this land with clean hands and a pure heart was Jesus Christ. Therefore, God only will see us clean and pure if He see His Son rather than see us. To see Him and not us, we must be washed in the blood of the slain Lamb; we must be born again of water and the Spirit. Only then we can see the God of our salvation.
Do not seek God’s hands; first seek His face, His presence. Let come to Him lined with the salvation that Jesus Christ gave us on the cross and to which we agreed to repent of our sins and become Him. Only then we will see God’s blessings in our lives, the largest of all the certainty of eternal life and a spot reserved with our name in heaven. God bless you.
