Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
To give instruction what to do rather than worry to accumulate wealth when we possess something, or worry about our needs when we lack something, Jesus gives us the master key: FIRST seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all others will follow.
Our human thought tells us that logic dictates that a greater effort, greater result. Thus, we apply this principle in our work, in our family relationships and friendships and even in our relationship with God. Obviously, hopefully better pay if we try harder or our loved ones see us better if we work harder for them. The truth is that there is no guarantee that because I know many cases where the efforts have been in vain. But the big difference is manifested in regarding our relationship with God, since He expects more our obedience than our physical or mental effort.
When my wife and I were going to buy our first home, we noticed when approaching the closing day that the money we had in the bank would not be enough. We needed two or three thousand dollars more, which, with our income, we would take several weeks to achieve and did not have time. Then try to find who lent us to be out of trouble and in a week of effort got nothing. Saturday came and closing was going to be on Monday, my wife asked me what was I would do. I replied that I would seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. I had promised that Saturday to participate in an activity in our church, so I disconnected from the problem and decided to partake of the Lord’s affairs. The result was that between Saturday night and Sunday morning three people lent enough money to close on our house and leftovers.
I do not know what trouble you have at this time. Maybe you take time praying and asking God to come to your aid and provide you what you lack. Today God wants you to seek Him first; you dive into His divine presence, to forget once and concerns of life and focus on who can do anything. Let God be your greatest desire, allow Him to direct your steps through this world, let allow a reality the righteousness of God in your life and do not seek your own righteousness. God never lies and His Word is true and correct. So if you seek Him first, everything else will come to you at the right time, neither before nor after. Leave aside the eagerness and delight in the Lord that the additions will come as a natural consequence. God bless you.
