The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, my adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.
Understand that God is our light, our salvation and the strength of our life is more than enough to not feel any fear. First, because God is our light, always we will know where to go. God as light always gives us the right direction; therefore we will never be confused nor will walk in darkness because His bright light will be with us. Because God is our salvation, we will never be lost or know defeat.
God will always come to our rescue and always He will give us the victory and we will be more than conquerors. Because God is our strength, never will we be weak, God will give us the strength we need to live, God sustains us with His right hand of power, and God protects us from all our enemies. When we fully understand all this, never will be apprehensive of what might happen to us and our life will become one of praise to the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The most beautiful of the Word of God is to see how there is a correspondence between in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Let’s look at the relationship between Jesus Christ and what it says Psalm 27:1-2.
John 8:12 says: Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life”. This statement of Jesus is fully consistent with Psalm 27 which says the Lord is my light and salvation. With respect to salvation the apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:9: For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. It is clear therefore that Jesus Christ is our light and our salvation.
Knowing that our Lord is our light, our guide and source of our salvation, fear must remain absent from our lives. No wonder Jesus himself says in Luke 12:32: Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom. The Lord is infusing us encouragement, urges us not to fear because He is with us always. No matter what afflictions to which we are subjected by world as Jesus overcame the world and in Him we trust.
Finally, Jesus Christ is our strength, as Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13: I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me. Let out fear, let out doubt. Let us once and for all the decision to believe God with our lips affirm that in Jesus Christ we have our light, our salvation and our strength. Let out from our lives forever fear and trust in the Almighty God who makes us justice and frees us from our enemies giving us the victory. God bless you.
