God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
God has spoken through His Son. These first four verses of Hebrews is a presentation of the very essence of Jesus. Today, many people still do not understand who is Jesus Christ. And I’m not talking about atheists or believers of other religions. I mean people who have read or have a Bible at home, people congregate in churches where we talk about Christ; but they unknown to the person from whom it is spoken there. These first verses of Hebrews says that Jesus is the heir of all things and through whom God made the universe, they also say that He is the radiance of God’s glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power. All these attributes of the person of Jesus clearly indicate His deity, He made so much better than the angels, when he inherited a more excellent name than they.
No doubt from these verses that Jesus is the incarnation of God on earth. Therefore, if we meditate for a moment on the nature of God, we could also assimilate the greatness of Jesus, Emmanuel, and God with us. But that’s not all, what Jesus came to do the same as God made man, to this land? Verse 3 explains clearly, He came to perform the purification of our sins through Himself. Jesus, Himself, did not need to come to earth at all; he already knew the land because He had been the architect of creation. He came to do something no man or woman on this earth could, can or will do: take away the sins of the world.
Jesus came to restore our relationship with God, to amend what sin of our first parents caused. He came to save us, to free us, to break our chains. No one and nothing can impersonate Jesus, whose name is more excellent than all names. Jesus is the only way to reach God, there is no other. The world says that all roads lead to Rome and perhaps literally is true; but the Scriptures say there is only one way that leads to God, there is only one way that leads to eternal life and that road has only one name, the name which is above every name: Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed.
Having a personal encounter with Jesus Christ is our visa to eternity with God. He was slain by you and me. Nobody took his life, He volunteered offered His life so you and me had option of not paying for our own sins. Let do honor to whom has saved us and let’s do Him the Lord of our lives. God bless you.
