Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
The things of the world are opposed to the things of God. The logic of the world is totally useless for understanding God because His thoughts are much higher level than the thoughts of the world. As Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
It is not necessary to understand each of the things God tells us in His Word, we need only obey, we need only to trust that He is God, He is faithful, He is good, merciful, just, who is our Father and takes care of us all the time. Jesus has warned us in John 16:33: I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.
While we live in this world, we need, we’ll have gaps, we’ll have downs, and we’ll have disappointments. But as our hope should not be focused on the world or its things, but please God, indulge Him and the best way is to believe in Him, believing that He will do ALL that has promised. If there comes a time when we have to choose between pleasing God or please a person, whether that person is someone we love so much, the decision should always be to please God above everything and everyone.
Following Christ is not an easy task because the world will see us as strange beings and even many people in the world will hate us. The reason is simple, when we turn to the ranks of the army of the living God through His Son Jesus Christ, we have left the ranks of the army of the prince of this world and, therefore, the people of the world will see us as what already we are: the enemy. But that should not make us fear for our Lord prayed for us in Gethsemane with authority to make us feel safe and protected by our Commander in Chief.
When we decided to do the will of God and serve as the call that has made to us the reward is quite comforting. It gives us joy to know that we have brought to a person at the feet of Christ, we prayed for the sick and he has received healing, we have released someone from oppressive spirits and all that is good, it’s definitely part of our mission in this world; but our greatest joy should not be that, but be sure that our names are written in heaven.
The world can offer certain things that look good: riches, pleasures, comforts; but all these things are perishable, they will not last forever. If we decide to please the world instead of God, to leave this world, all the things we have acquired will stay here and we’ll go with empty hands. God bless you.
