For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
There is nothing more powerful than the Word of God. Everything that exists was created by the Word spoken by God. When He said became the light, that the waters being separated from the waters, which had parted seas and continents, the land produce plants, that separation exists between night and day, that there were animals and humans all was completely done according to the words of God.
Our Lord used the power of the Word of God to give sight to the blind, multiply food, expel demons, resist the temptations of the devil and raise the dead. There is absolutely nothing to the powerful Word of God used by believers cannot achieve, as the apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:18: For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The Word of God is living because its effect is eternal. Contrary to what has been written in books conceived by man, the biblical writings have the power to give the reader a fresh message every time it is read. As the layers of the onion, each verse of Scripture is revealed to us the truth of God for each reading. The effectiveness of the Word of God is real. We can find instruction, comfort, promises peace, rest and joy in the Bible.
When Paul describes the armor of God, the Word is compared with a sword: and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17). The sword is a two-edged knife which is basically a cutting and stabbing straight blade. Based on this comparison, the Word of God is stabbing to penetrate to the deepest fibers of being human. Because it is cutting, the Word of God is able to separate the emotions of the human soul to penetrate our spirit.
It is impossible to deceive God, for He knows the true intentions of the human heart. His Word is the means God uses to bring to light the things that are to keep hidden. Scripture itself shows how the prophets used the revealed by the Word of God to make palpable the true intentions of individuals. The Holy Spirit, through His different gifts, reminds us what to say in any situation that comes our way in order to bring to light what was hidden.
Let’s use the power that gives us the Word of God. The most effective prayer is that we do using Scripture as a base. Likewise, the same Scripture can be used to give praise to our Lord and King. The powerful Word of God is the main weapon to heal the sick, cast out demons and bring the message of salvation to the lost. As a song by Juan Luis Guerra says, use well your sword, soldier of Christ. God bless you.
