Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
When we decided to follow Christ and forsake the things of this world, the prince of darkness becomes our enemy. And as Chavo del 8 said, without want wanting we are in the midst of a spiritual war. In every war there are two sides and both aim to win. In war soldiers must be sufficiently trained and properly equipped to fight, survive and win. We, as soldiers of Christ, we should know our protective equipment and our weapons to overcome.
Our training is given by our Lord, who gives us strength. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13 says. We must be prepared and alert because they always come bad days because our enemy is always ready to attack, as says 1 Peter 5:8: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Therefore we must use all the time the Armor of God.
The belt of truth gives us freedom: And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). Thus we are sure not to fall into the enemy’s lies. The breastplate of righteousness protects our heart, as Proverbs 4:23 tells us: Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. The preparation of the gospel of peace is our footwear. We are messengers of the good news of salvation: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:15).
Faith is an impenetrable shield. Psalm 18:30 says: As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Putting our faith in God, we reject all attacks of the enemy.
We must realize that the enemy’s battlefield is our mind. He will try to accuse each time you make a mistake, so our salvation must be the helmet to protect us: But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:8).
Finally, our weapon of attack and defense is the Word of God: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). God bless you.
