And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
In my career I have learned that a process should be effective, efficient and productive. Therefore, such a process must be designed so that it produces results that justify the investment in its development and operation. Putting it in a simpler level, efficiency means that the effort to do something would generate a beneficial result. In the spiritual realm, the prayer must be effective so that it can be obtained what we ask to God.
I have seen in myself and in people known the efficacy of prayer of faith. As for me, I have been healed based on prayer and I also participated in prayers for patients receiving healing. Plus I’ve seen other servants of God pray for patients who have been completely healed of their diseases. One of these servants of God is a great friend of mine, Pastor David Augie.
Pastor Augie David is a native of Bangalore in India. I have witnessed how the Lord used him in healing in his campaigns for the nations and even in small meetings, some of which has taken out in my own home. He wrote a book: How To Release God’s Ability Within You, which presents numerous testimonies of healing that have happened. I have found in my friend what effective is prayer of faith that heals the sick.
In the Old Testament there are several examples of prayers for healing. One is Psalm 6:2 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled. Another example is in Jeremiah 17:14: Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. In both cases it is the patient himself who prays for healing.
Pray for the sick is something which our Lord gave us authority, as we see in Matthew 10:1: And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. You can say it’s part of our task list as servants of Jesus Christ.
True, pray for the sick and lay hands on the sick and they will recover is one of the signs of those who believe in Jesus, as Mark 16:17-18 says. However, the Holy Spirit gives as He deems appropriate special gifts of healing, as says 1 Corinthians 12:8-11: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. God bless you.
