All of Us Have Gone Astray
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
He was not born any man or woman who can claim to have lived without sin. Each and every one of those who were born on this Earth from human parents has our tail. We cannot claim innocence before the throne of God because there will always be some sin in our lives. As Isaiah 53:6 says: All we like sheep have gone astray. It had to come to get us the Good Shepherd through our byways to bring back to the fold of His Father.
Matthew 18:12-13 says: What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Each of us is the sheep that went astray. Unfortunately many people mistakenly identifies with the ninety-nine others.
When I say that there are those who identify with the ninety-nine sheep remaining in the fold rather than being the misguided I do not do with the intention to criticize or offend anyone. For many years I myself was one of those. I felt good; a person who had not killed or stolen and therefore felt it was fine. Like many, I was occasionally to a church and tried to follow the rites and traditions that my mother had taught me.
Unfortunately I was mistaken. All my life I violated the law of God with my actions. Sin is anything you do that God does not like; it is not what our own righteousness wants to catalog. Nor is it true that there are worse sins than others, before God everything that prohibits His law falls into the same category. In addition, those who violate a single point of God’s law, they have completely violated it.
So I, like all humanity was that sheep went astray and was lost in the bush. For years running from God I walked without realizing that the Good Shepherd walked in my search. And the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, was the same who gave His life to rescue me from eternal damnation. When I finally had this great meeting with Him was that I realized what I was missing and there was no way I could save myself by my own merits.
There is a chance that you are hearing or reading this yourself believing to be one of the ninety-nine sheep. You are that who went astray, as I was and as we have been all without exception. Remember that long ago the Good Shepherd goes in your search. Today is the day for you to find him. Quit wandering in the mountains of life because no one will give you better food than your Pastor. He will take you to green pastures and make you relax. He convened a party in your honor in heaven because He found you. God bless you.
