Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Although they are endowed with two ears and one mouth, people tend to talk more than listen. Many people, when they are talking, instead of paying attention to what they say they are thinking about what they would say back the orator. Therefore it is very common in that type of person interrupt the speaker. And if that happens so often with people who see worse happens to our Lord, whom we see. Stop listening to the words of Jesus we risk our future in eternity.
According to the dictionary, to listen means: Apply the ear to hear; pay attention to what you hear; serve a notice, advice or suggestions; hear, perceive sound. In the case of hearing the words of Jesus, according to the dictionary definition, we must apply our ear to hear them. Also you have to pay attention because what the Lord tells us is a warning, a council to which we must attend.
In the Synoptic Gospels is repeated six times from the lips of the Lord: He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (Matthew 11:15, Matthew 13:9, Matthew 13:43, Mark 4:9, Luke 8:8 and Luke 14:35). Twice He says: If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear (Mark 4:23 and Mark 7:16). In the book of Revelation is repeated seven times: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches (Revelation 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:29, 3: 6, 3:13, and 3:22). And in Revelation 13:9 says: If anyone has an ear, let him hear.
It cannot be coincidences that in the first three Gospels and Revelation repeat 16 times a phrase that challenges us to listen to what the Lord says. Such insistence on God’s Word on the subject is to let us clear that it is something very important. Romans 10:17 says: So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. When we hear the words of Jesus, our faith is strengthened because we are hearing God’s word.
It was from the mouth of Jesus himself who left the words of John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Therefore, if we want to attain eternal life, we must listen and follow the instructions that Jesus himself uttered in John 3:16: believe in Him for not perish.
Also from Jesus’ lips came the words of John 14: 6: Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. So what are you doing looking for alternate routes to the Father? It is not through a religion, it is not for you practicing rites, they are not the ancestral traditions or your good works that are going to lead to God. There is only one way and it called Jesus Christ, everything else is useless, everything else is vain. Then let listen very carefully every word spoken by Jesus. You’ll encounter His words in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. You can also see His words in Revelation. Your eternal life depends on them. God bless you.
