Jesus Knocks Our Door

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Revelation 3:20

Who does not like to knock on the door of a house open to him? And best is yet to be invited to come in and take a seat at the table for dinner. But that is unpleasant to knock a door and nobody opened. Or you open the door, but do not invite him in. Or perhaps to be let in one table ready for dinner to which you are not invited. Today Jesus is knocking on the door of the heart of every human being. Are you willing to open?

I remember in the days of my childhood, in the neighborhood where I grew up, most of the houses stood with open doors. Everyone who came did not even have to knock. In each of these houses, visitors were welcome at any time, and if a visitor came to lunch or dinner, he was always settled at the table space and the food was shared. My neighborhood was not one where rich people lived, but rather of working people; but the spirit of solidarity was notorious.

Over time, it was losing the atmosphere of good neighborhood, not just in my neighborhood but in many places in nearly everyone. Today, it is common that the houses have their doors locked at all times. And besides traditional doors, additional protection with iron bars placed. Also the windows are reinforced with bars and if the house has a front garden, more bars are placed for greater protection.

More recently, in addition to converting our homes into fortresses, security cameras, alarms, motion sensors and private guards are used. The suspicion by the strange and unknown people is the norm. When you knock the door, many times we do not open up missing and if someone else opens the house, it is common to say: “If he asks for me, tell him I’m not here.”

And in the same way as natural life increasingly more locked us in our homes and not open the door, in the spiritual world, people increasingly slams the door in the face of Jesus Christ. Today’s society, for example, looks much more acceptable publicly expose gay rights that allow somebody to pray in public in the name of Jesus.

The French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo was attacked on January 7, 2015 by Muslim extremists in retaliation for the publication of caricatures of Muhammad. It notes that the same magazine had ridiculed Jesus Christ in the same way and nobody said a peep this regard, let alone dared to unleash an attack and kill a dozen people.

Jesus Christ is knocking on the doors of every heart today, including yours. Are you going to lock you up in bars or leave the door open for him? Are you going to tell your support team to tell Him that you are not there? Jesus, as a gentleman, is not going to pressure you receiving Him; He will patiently wait until you decide to open. How much longer you let Him waiting for? Why do not you open today? God bless you.
