Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.
Although exist today people who believe that everything ends at death, the truth is that God has established the opposite. When you died two things can happen: eternal life or eternal death. Of course, those who do not believe that there is something beyond the earthly life, they probably will not reach eternal life. Clearly it explains why John 6:47: you must believe in Jesus Christ for eternal life.
What John 6:47 says is a reaffirmation of what expresses the best known verse in the Bible, John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Eternal life is the goal, believing in Jesus is the only possible way to achieve that goal. No other alternative path to everlasting life was to believe in the one and only God.
Modernity has sought to portray Jesus Christ as a person out of fashion. Countries that once were considered Christians today impose laws that restrict pronounce the name of Jesus, supposedly defending the rights of non-believers. However, those laws violate the same rights of believers and, often, nobody says anything. The image of God for the world today is not the truth of the Bible. Invoking the coexistence of creeds, they have tried to invoke a God in whom Jesus Christ is excluded.
We are living in a time where free thinking is encouraged. In these times, the accepted truth depends on the reference axis. Everyone defends his or her point of view as true. Certainly we live what is written in Isaiah 5:20-23: Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!
The same prophet continues, then the consequences of such conduct. Isaiah 5:24: Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom will ascend like dust; because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. Try to change the rules and laws to suit the preferences in force in the world neither change the Word of God nor exonerate us from guilt.
The Lord Himself says in Mark 13:31: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Therefore, no matter what the world says, no matter what your beliefs, you just believe in Jesus Christ guarantees everlasting life because it lays the Scripture. How long are you going to risk your salvation by believing in fairy way? Keep in mind that what is at stake is your eternal destiny. Do not let another day pass without depositing your trust in Jesus Christ. You do not know how long you are in this world and this is where you should make that decision. God bless you.
