Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
2 Corinthians 13: 5
Although many people may not like the testing is unavoidable. Anyone who has gone through the school student knows that his life has taken many exams. Anyone who has not received schooling is not without testing. Life itself undergoes constant testing us and many of them are harder than the worst quantum mechanics test. Some tests are approved and some are disapproved, which sometimes forces us to repeat. Spiritually all of us will be tested and 2 Corinthians 13:5 orders us to examine ourselves.
To face any kind of problem, man must first recognize that the problem exists. No alcoholic or drug addict can overcome his without first recognizing within himself his condition. Just inside each person he or she can recognize that something is wrong and he or she must face and look the solution to why we’re hurting.
English preacher George Whitefield (1714-1770) said: “First then, before he can speak peace to your heart, it is necessary to make you feel, mourn, mourn for your actual transgressions against the law of God.” In our examination, we must recognize that we are failing. Not only that, we need to wholeheartedly abhor our own sinfulness before seeking the help that comes from God. It is obvious that we have sinned against God and by our own works we will always be guilty.
2 Corinthians 13:5 says that if Jesus Christ is not in us we are disqualified. Therefore, we need Jesus Christ to save us from being disqualified. German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke (1940- ) says: “We can only come to God when this Savior has rescued us. Unless we deliver responsibility for our lives to Him, we will be responsible in the day of judgment for our lives, our sins and, in particular, for the sin of rejecting Christ.”
Let examine our lives and verify if Jesus Christ is in us or not. Our rescue comes only from Him and does not come by any other means. It is not that our ideas differ from the Bible, what we think or stop thinking is not going to rescue us from the punishment of hell. Leave aside the stick to what we have believed all our life if that does not lead to salvation. We meditate for a moment if we have clung to the wrong traditions.
If you analyze yourself and discover that Jesus is not in your heart, do not waste more time, make the decision today and open the door to whom gave for love His life for you. Pass the exam today and do not let it out failed. May the Lord enlighten your mind and heart in order to make the decision to allow Jesus Christ to direct your steps from this day until eternity. Do not put at risk your salvation, what you do is no more than what He already did for you on the cross. God bless you.
