The Priority of God

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

Luke 15:7

For God’s priority it is to save everyone and nobody perish. Hell was not designed to house human beings but the fallen angels who rebelled with Lucifer and were expelled from heaven. If any man or woman end up staying eternity in hell it is not because God wanted to send them there but because these people rejected receive amnesty of grace and did not repent of their sins. God wants all human beings to repent and turn to Him.

If there is joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, for whoever is considered Christian evangelization should take as a priority in his or her life. Obviously, it is not to win every soul which we have preached but will preach to every soul who crosses our path. As the American missionary Lewis R. Norman said: “The evangelization of the world is not to bring everyone to Christ, but to bring and offer Christ to everyone.”

For me it is inconceivable to have been touched by the grace of God and not share with others the good news of salvation. Sit idly watching millions of people die without having secured their salvation is a totally selfish act. The great English preacher Charles Spurgeon said it this way: “If you do not want others to be saved, then you are not saved, that’s for sure!”

Luke 15:7 says that there is more joy in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine who need no repentance. That means that God has a higher priority for the repentance of sinners that the spiritual food of those who are already saved. The Zambia-born British preacher Stephen F. Olford (1918-2004) said: “A preacher who is satisfied with feed believers too fed while the pagan world is going to hell, has never understood the call of God to preach the gospel to every creature.”

As believers we can do many things that are biblically correct. Prayer is important because it is our way of communicating with God. Praise and worship are ways to honor who loves us with an everlasting love. Lay hands on the sick or spiritual warfare are also part of our task as Christians. Congregate and fellowship with the rest of the body of Christ is also something that is expected of us.

However, no stop doing do such things, there is a commandment of God for every believer. That commandment is in Mark 16:15-16: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Evangelizing, preaching the gospel to every human being is not an optional matter but a mandate.

When we preach the gospel, we are not called to twist the arm of others to repent and turn to Christ. Our mission is to deliver the message, he that believes shall be saved and he that does not believe shall be damned. It is everyone’s decision to accept or reject the gift of salvation. Our duty is to introduce the option of God for that person should not perish but have eternal life. God bless you.
