For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:3-4
God did not create man to destruction but that he had a close relationship with Him. God’s plan does not contemplate to live apart from Him but remain eternally with Him. The sin of our first parents broke the harmony in the relationship between God and humanity. But from that moment, God launched a new plan to rescue the glory of His creation from the clutches of perdition and bring the wonderful light of truth and salvation.
If people are lost for eternal life, it is not God’s fault. British preacher Thomas Scott (1747-1821) said: “Our God is more ready to forgive than we are to humbly seek His mercy.” The Bible is very clear regarding the availability of God to forgive and adopt us as His children. We are ourselves who continue to put a barrier, often by clinging to our own beliefs or traditions.
But it also happens that many people lose salvation for lack of information. In many countries of the world live millions of people who have never heard of Jesus Christ and what He did for the salvation of all mankind. It happens that the vast majority of those who are already saved remain in their comfort zone and do not share the gospel. Charles Spurgeon said: “If the man ever comes to acquire love for sinners and his blessed master, the will of saving souls would be a totally absorbing passion for him.”
For God, saving the souls of the lost is His absorbing passion. And for every believer committed, as Spurgeon said, that should also be the absorbing passion too. I know for certain people I can seem tiresome and repetitive. You could say that my messages were sometimes bored. Or you expect me to bring issues that make you happier. If I speak to please people, I would be failing in two important points. First, it would not be aligned with God’s plan and second I would be doing great harm to all.
I’ll repeat the title of this message: God wants the salvation of everybody, of which Paul told Timothy, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. And many will wonder what the truth is? The answer is given John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus Christ is the truth; but He is also the way, the only way that leads to the Father and leads us to have eternal life and be saved.
People say that all ways lead to Rome and I do not doubt so. But to get God there is only one way called Jesus Christ. In John 8:32 we read: And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Now for John 14: 6 we learned that Jesus is the truth; therefore, we should know Him to be free. To know someone, you need to establish an intimate relationship with that person.
Today is the day the Lord has made for you who listen to me or read for establish an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, the truth that makes you free, the road that leads to the Father who gave you eternal life by dying in your place on the cross. The ardent desire of God’s heart is that you are saved and know the truth, repent and become Him. God bless you.
