Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
Nowhere in the Bible indicates that Christian life would be easy. When Paul urges Timothy to fight the good fight of faith what it is meant to be a Christian means to be at war with the world. Do not feel offended because I say that the Christian is at war with the world because if you identify with the world, you must be subject to who governs it. Do you know who the prince of this world is? The Bible says that the devil is the prince. So certainly that Christians are at war with him.
How do we fight the good fight of faith? The Lord says in Luke 8:11-12: Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. God’s Word shows us the way to salvation and eternal life. The enemy, as a roaring lion will try to snatch away that Word to do not save ourselves and stop believing. When we fight the good fight of faith, we stop being the land beside the road.
Who fights the good fight of faith is more aware of what God says than what the world says. The circumstances around us may be adverse. Everything would indicate that we swim against the current. People might think of us who are losers, which already fail and we are worthless; but in Romans 8:37 we read: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Therefore, we must put our faith into action believing us what God says, not what the world says.
Fight the good fight of faith is not to surrender to adversity, it is not to say we cannot go with anything, but it says what Paul says in Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. If we walk by faith, then we see what the eyes of faith are able to see not just what our natural eyes show us. Our forces might seem fragile, but our strength comes not from ourselves but from Jesus Christ, who conquered death, the devil, sin and the world on the cross of Calvary.
In our Christian walk we know that we have many tests, we will be tempted, we could fall and fail God. It is moments like those in which the enemy could remind us of our past dirty and flood us with guilt. Instead of succumbing to his wiles, the best we can do is humble ourselves before God, fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of our salvation and remind the devil his eternal place in the lake of fire from which our Lord and King Jesus Christ rescued us.
But the beginning of the good fight of faith begins from what John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Eternal life can only be achieved through faith in Jesus Christ, who gave His precious life on the cross in exchange for the salvation of everyone who repents and believes in Him. If you have not already done, Give your heart to Jesus Christ today and you will have eternal life. And although from this time, earthly things could be darker for you, you will have assured victory in the good fight of faith. God bless you.
