There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
It says an old saying that all that glitters is not gold. Similarly, not all roads lead to salvation and to life. The road looks more beautiful and rectum can lead us to the abyss, to death, to destruction. What Proverbs 14:12 says, like everything the Bible says, is a great truth. The best way, the real, may not be as right or well paved, but it will be the right and lead us to a safe place. That real, true and safe way is called Jesus Christ.
The twentieth century marked the launch of modernity. Great inventions facilitated the life of humanity, including: the generalization of electricity, the automobile, the airplane, electronics, radio, television, agricultural mechanization, computers, telephone, air conditioning, refrigeration, microwave oven, nuclear power, rockets and artificial satellites. All these inventions and many more apparently have righted the path of humanity making everything much more comfortable than previous generations to us.
Many people consider the modern advances as a right way. Electricity, for example, allows us to use a lot of artifacts that let us to do more in less time and greater efficiency. The car allows us to reach distances within hours that once took days. The aircraft allows us to cross the Atlantic in a few hours, when previously took weeks or months. Through radio, television and the Internet we found out the news almost instantly happen.
However, that entire beautiful path that has brought the world the technological innovation has also been accompanied by great evils for humanity. Industrialization has also produced climate change, loss of biodiversity, disruption of cycles of phosphorus and nitrogen, acidification of the oceans, pollution, excess waste; deterioration of the ozone layer, fishing excess and deforestation. Each and every one of these events threatens human, animal and plant life on our planet and threatens to destroy it.
And just as beautiful road abuse and apparently right for the advancement of science of the twentieth century could have a death order, individually many things that look nice that can lead us to eternal death there. The pleasures of life are very lovely when carried out; but many of them lead us to sin, which says Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The path of sin might seem right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
As I said earlier, there is only one true and safe way, Jesus Christ. John 14:6 says: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” There is no other way to achieve salvation and eternal life other than through Jesus Christ. Following Christ it is not a right or easy way because it implies deny ourselves and taking up our cross daily. But that road seems rough and full of obstacles is our only guarantee that at the end we arrive at a place where we enjoy the abundant life that we came to bring the King of kings and Lord of lords. We choose the right path and abandon forever the path of perdition. God bless you.
