And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
1 John 5:20
Much of humanity speaks of God, but the question is whether all speak the true God. Is the God of Israel the same god of the Arabs? Do Buddhists and Hindus worship the same God as Christians? Do they worship the true God all religious groups that mention the name of Christ? 1 John 5:20 gives the explanation that can answer all these questions: we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
No doubt that 1 John 5:20 is a biblical statement about the divinity of Jesus Christ. Many people have no clear idea about Jesus. They imagine that He was a virtuous man, a teacher; but, after all, a man more. Certainly Jesus was a man; but He is not only that. Part of His nature is not human but divine and the Bible has much evidence about it. Isaiah 9:6 prophesies like this: For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah’s prophecy about the birth of the Messiah, Jesus establishes as one of His names Mighty God, so that there is no doubt of His divinity. The beginning of the Gospel of John it says much more clearly. John 1:1-3: says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. The Word, Jesus Christ, according to this gospel, was with God, was God and created all things.
There are other biblical passages that show the divinity of Jesus Christ and His eternal existence. Therefore, we are not talking about a simple virtuous man who has had a great influence on human history. We are talking about the Creator himself of humankind, the universe and everything that exists. And as to His divinity, we are not talking about a little God, but of whom Isaiah called Mighty God. We are not talking about a Jehovah junior, but who John says, and the Word was God.
Only fully understanding that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, we can understand that only He can carry out the mission for which he came to this earth. No mere human being, man or woman, is able to qualify for exempt from the guilt of sin to each person who, by faith, accept the grace, unmerited favor. Only the offended by sin, that is, God Himself, has the power to grant clemency and forgiveness, no one else can do it.
I urge you to meditate on the person of Jesus Christ taking into account His real nature. Speak lightly of Him is not only disrespecting God Himself, but despise who, love, willingly He offered His life to give you salvation. Never forget that Jesus is the true God and eternal life and that there is no salvation outside of Him. Repenting of your sins and becoming Him, you become a child of God, write your name in the Book of Life and will assure eternal life. God bless you.
