Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
There are people in the world who claim to be Christians, but they seem never to have read Matthew 6:31-32. Certainly all human beings have needs, both believers and unbelievers. It is also true that the needs are not free and someone must pay for them. But if we believed in God, we must give as true and valid throughout Scripture, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21.
There is a story that has become quite popular on the Internet. A very poor woman was praying one day at home to God for her needs. The woman was praying with faith and loud. His neighbor, an atheist when he heard her crying out to the Lord and said she fully trusted that He would supply all her shortcomings, especially the food and had absolutely nothing in her cupboard. The neighbor wanted to ridicule God and went to a nearby supermarket ordering a complete market for the lady. The man who gave the order would take food if the lady asked who regaled him food told that it was the devil.
Shortly before noon they knock on the door of the poor lady. When she opens it meets a young man who brings her a complete market with everything that she needed. The lady immediately begins to give glory to God for having supplied the food she needed. The boy asks astonished to the woman why she did not ask him who had bought the market. The lady replied with a smile: “I don’t need to ask who sent me these foods. When God commands it, even the devil obeys.”
This story may be real or fictitious, the case is not so important; the truth is that I know that God will meet all the needs of His children and He can use many means. In Psalm 23:1 says: The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need (NLT). And if God says I have all that I need, I believe Him because he is faithful and never lies. Saying that I have all that I need means that we do everything we need to meet our needs. This does not mean that God is bound to please our whims or fancies, but food, water and our clothes are going to reach our hands.
In April 2010 I lost my job as a scientist at a pharmaceutical company. At the moment I was deprived of a high salary and significant fringe benefits. For over 5 years I lacked fixed income; but my basic needs were always met. I cannot explain how the food or clothing came to me. I did not have always money in my hands to buy what I needed; but I cannot say I went hungry or nudity.
Many people, in times of trials similar to mine, when they pray to God for their needs, they show a budget to God about they need to meet them. And if God answers supplying them every need, but not they hands don’t get money, they feel that God has failed. My friend, God has been faithful to His word that you will lack nothing, He has His own ways to act and He does not need to follow our instructions. Therefore, instead of bothering with God, give thanks always to Him for all the care He have of you. God bless you.
