If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
When we establish a relationship with God through which we become His children, He as Father always will give us good things. The comparison made by the Lord in Matthew 7:11 is that human parents know how to give good gifts to their children and, therefore, God, who is much better Father than any man, will also give good gifts to His children . All good things that our Heavenly Father gives us are written in the Bible. So you always know what God gives us just by reading His Word.
I will share a story that someone sent me recently. A man entered the premises of a shop and saw a man behind the counter. Marveling at the beauty of the place asked to whom was in charge of the store: “Sir, what do you sell here?” The master replied, “The gifts of God.” The man asked again: “How much is it?” Te man behind the counter replied to him: “They cost nothing! Here everything is free.” The man looked the local and saw that love had jugs, bottles of faith, hope packages, boxes of salvation, much wisdom, bundles of forgiveness, peace large packages and many other gifts.
The man, marveling at all that asked: “Please, I want the greatest pitcher of love, all bales of forgiveness and a large jar of faith for me, my family and my friends.” Then the man in charge of the store prepared everything and gave him a small packet that fit in the palm of his hand. Disbelieving and astonished, the man said, “But how can you put here all I asked for?” Smiling, the master replied: “In God Store we do not sell fruit, only seeds, plant them, plant them!”
It is obvious that this story is not real but an illustration like the parables of the Lord. But the message is valid to show that our Father gives us good things and that these things are not good to indulge our pleasures but to also serve as a blessing to others. The greatest gift that Heavenly Father gives us is salvation, as Ephesians 2:8 says: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Once we are saved and become children of God, we receive spiritual gifts as 1 Corinthians 12:1 says: Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. In 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 we find what spiritual gifts we receive are: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
Spiritual gifts are good things that our Father gives us to be shared. In 1 Corinthians 14:12 we read: Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel. And in 1 Peter 4:10: As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Let us enjoy and share the gifts that our Father gives us. God bless you.
