For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
The basis of belief is to eradicate every vestige of doubt in our hearts. In fact, doubt is the opposite of faith. So, who claims to believe, but certainly within himself, he deceives himself and his prayer and his statement will not happen. Mark 11:23 puts us a challenge to all of us: whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
I will share a story I read some time ago. In a small farming village, there was a long drought that threatened to leave ruin to all its inhabitants because they subsisted on the fruit of the field. Although most of its inhabitants were believers, to the extreme situation, they went to see the pastor of the local church and said, “Pastor, if God is so powerful, ask him to send rain needed to reverse this distressing situation.”
The pastor replied, “Okay, we will ask the Lord, but there must be a prerequisite.” They answered him, “Tell us what it is!” And the pastor told them: “You have to ask in faith, with faith.” The people of that village committed themselves to pray with faith no longer stop attending church services. But weeks passed and the expected rain was not present.
One day they all went to confront the pastor and to reclaim: “Pastor, you told us that if we asked in faith to God to send the rain, He was going to grant our requests. But it was several weeks ago and we do not get any response.” The pastor asked them. “Dear brothers, have you asked with true faith?” They answered in unison: “Yes, of course.” And the pastor told them: “So if you say have asked with true faith, why all these days not one of you has brought the umbrella?”
It is obvious that the inhabitants of this small town were not characterized by believing in their heart without doubt. If they had been without doubt that the request made to God, every day they would have left their preparations for the abundant rain that would fall on their land houses. Suffering drought was that mountain they could have been ordered to take off and to lie down to the sea if they had believed without doubt in their hearts.
The Word of God is very clear about what happens to the person who prays with doubt. James 1:6-7 says: But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. Therefore, the villagers of today’s story doubted what they asked for in prayer, why no rain came.
Today the Lord is saying to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. No matter the size of your mountain, unhesitatingly believe in your heart that it will move in front of your eyes and let you enter the land of your promise. Do not hesitate! God bless you.
