You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
The Bible states very clearly that there is no human being who seeks God. There are people who disagree with this statement and try to invent routes that lead them to God. What the Bible says is that the Lord seeks us and in John 15:16 it is He who chooses us for a specific purpose: to be sent and to bear permanent fruit. Since God is not going to leave anyone without his reward, John 15:16 also contains a great promise: that whatever we ask the Father in the name of Jesus will be given to us.
In the natural world we often go through the test of being among the candidates to occupy a position or reach the first place in a contest or competition. Among all candidates for each of these positions, generally only one or a few are elected. Sharon had graduated as a doctor of medicine and she applied for the Internal Medicine program. She prepared and studied a lot and introduced herself to the interview. There were only 3 places available and she was one of the chosen ones.
We do not always reach out to the elect despite our efforts. When I graduated as a chemical engineer, I went to a job interview at a gold mine. I knew that at least two of my fellow of promotion had been considered among the candidates together with several others. I was the last one to be interviewed. A couple of days later, one of the interviewers called me to tell me that my colleague René had been chosen for the position. I told him that it was a good choice and he told me that if it had just depended on him, the one chosen would have been me and that he wanted me in the company. A couple of weeks later they called me back to give me a job there.
In the Miss Universe 2015 contest, a total of 80 candidates were preparing to reach the crown. In the end there were only three and the host of the contest, Steve Harvey, announced the winner of the Colombian representative, Ariadna Gutiérrez. As is customary in this contest, the outgoing queen, the also Colombian Paulina Vega, crowned her compatriot as her successor. Within minutes, Harvey excused himself with the audience and the contestants because he had made a mistake announcing the winner. Ariadna had to deliver the crown to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, from the Philippines, who was crowned Miss Universe 2015.
There is a constant in the three cases that I have presented today. Candidates were prepared in each particular situation in order to be elected. Each of the doctors studied to be taken into account in the specialty program, as well as candidates for a job. The 80 contestants of Miss Universe underwent a rigid discipline for months so that a jury chose only one of them as the most beautiful woman of the Earth. Fortunately for us, God chooses us without us having gathered the merits to deserve His election. On the contrary, we would all be disqualified for our own sins. Only His great love, His grace and His forgiveness move him to choose us to send us as His witnesses and to bear fruit that will remain forever. God bless you.
