And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
I love what Romans 8:28 says: And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For me, this verse is a banner I use in my difficult times. And as I often have stones in my path, I always have Romans 8:28 at hand. If this word is sown in our hearts, we will surely overcome every obstacle, and we will not lose the peace or the joy of the Lord.
I think it’s all happened to us that we’ve been obsessed by something that was never given to us. At the time we were frustrated because our goal was not reached. For a while, we live with the lament to the skin until finally we realize that what we pursued was not what suited us. When something like this happens, it is best to thank God for having saved us from falling into something that could do us much harm.
I have been through similar situations many times in my life. In some of them, after time it has been shown that not getting what I wanted happened for my good. In others, I have not yet found how to explain to myself the reason for not having reached my dreams; but that does not mean that my Father will not let me know later. I love God, I know that I have been called according to His Purpose, therefore, I have no doubt that all the things that happen to me help me well.
I went through a very difficult test time not long ago. I saw myself without a job, without a house, with my family against me, most of my friends turned their back on me and only a few, those who could least afford me, gave me a hand. One morning I remembered a pastor friend whose call is to rescue people from the street and asked him for help. Since he had nowhere to locate me, he called another fellow minister who ran a restoration home for addicts and alcoholics to get me there. I lived in that place for several weeks and served for my sake because God showed me His great love that, despite the great tribulations I have gone through, He has kept me from falling into alcoholism, drug addiction, depression or suicide attempt.
I want to tell you who have believed in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as your Lord and Savior. If you have already taken that step of faith, it is because you surely love God. So do not grieve over anything that happens to you because you fall into the category of those to whom all things work together for good. If all things help you for good, what you consider a bad thing can be an experience that God, your Heavenly Father, will use to teach you a life lesson or is a way to avoid greater evils.
If you know that you are one of those who according to His purpose are called, no matter how great and difficult your situation is, what today you call misfortune will help you for good. If you even go to jail, God will use it to bring the good news of the Gospel to the prisoners and you will be keeping treasures in the heavens. If you have lost all your fortune, God is teaching you to depend on Him as your provider. If all your friends have turned their backs on you, it is so that you have more time of intimacy with your Father because all things help you for good. God bless you.
