Doing Well to Those Who Make Bad to Us

But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do well to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Luke 6:27-36

What a beautiful lesson gives us Jesus! There is no merit doing good to our friends, our children, siblings and other relatives. Certainly the people of the world, even the worst criminals, makes such things. The merit is obtained by doing well to those who hate us, who take advantage of us who seek our evil and wish our destruction. God expects us to have mercy on those whose actions toward us not deserve forgiveness.

We must remember that all humanity, including ourselves, have not done anything more than to offend God and sin against Him, yet He has had mercy and forgiveness. Therefore, the merit is acquired by doing well to those who have wronged you.

When we reached mercy from God and recognize that we have achieved eternal life and forgiveness of our sins, we are in first love with Jesus Christ. It is the moment in which we long for all our loved ones will also be saved and began to evangelize them. Most of the time the rejection is the answer they give us and almost always, our loved ones receive salvation because a person other than us spoke to them.

Very few people think that those who have wronged them might receive the gift of salvation. But that is what the Lord expects us to do. Wish well and do it for those we love is easy and requires no sacrifice. Moreover, everyone does. That is why God does not give merit. It’s like when in our job we do everything that is in our job description, there is no merit because that we are paid. The merit comes when we do something extra, something that was not expected, and something that goes beyond expectations.

God expects of you and me just what an old Spanish proverb says, to do good without looking at whom. God bless you.

The Joy of Suffering

And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.  Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.  Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.  Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.

Luke 6:20-23

Many times we complain about our economic situation, our physical needs, our pains and sorrows, of the times we are rejected, contempt of others, especially as we follow Christ. However, Jesus says to each one of those who suffer these things that we are blessed because the Kingdom of God is ours, because we will be satisfied, because laugh and rejoice because our reward is great in heaven.

I remember a phrase from my mother, “who wants nice bow she must hold pull downs”. What she meant was that good things require sacrifices and testing; but at the end, something well worth the sacrifice is obtained. In this century, most people claim immediate results without any effort. It is what I call the culture of the microwave. Already many have become so accustomed to have everything ready in seconds that they do not want to wait.

In the Christian environment, things are not much different. Many people go to church and converted to Christianity because they hear or think they hear that all their problems will be solved by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Thus, people whose lives have been touched by poverty, disease, hunger, sadness, loneliness or rejection, come to Jesus because they think that then would achieve wealth, health, prosperity, happiness, acceptance or their ideal partners.

In most cases, expectations are not met and then comes frustration and anger against God. The truth is that the Bible does not promise a bed of roses to those who repent of their sins and decide reconciled to God. The reason is very simple. While we are in the world, we do what the world likes. But by accepting Jesus, the Holy Spirit who now is living in us warning us of bad habits and it costs us please the world. Then we stop being interested sympathetic to those who continue living as we did before and had to be teased. Also, if we are pioneers in the gospel within our family, we receive attacks for leaving the family tradition. I experienced firsthand the rejection and may you live so; but I assure you that God does not lie, and if you resist the test, your reward in heaven will be great and lasting. The things of this world shall someday pass; but what will happen after leaving this world is forever. Therefore endure the trials and not lose heart in our Christian walk. Our Lord promised to be with us until the end of the world and then be with Him for eternity. God bless you.

Benefits of Fully Follow Instructions

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.

Psalms 1:1-3

Because of my training in chemical engineering, I understand very well Psalms 1:1-3 that following exactly a procedure is the difference between getting or not the expected result. The same principle applies to any other field of human knowledge, such as the kitchen. The dish you prepare will not be the same if you do not execute the steps of the recipe in the right order and if you alter the amounts of the ingredients.

The key to success in everything in our lives is full and completely adhering to the Word and Will of God. The origin of the failure comes from our stubborn desire to exercise our own will regardless the wise counsel and guidance of our Creator.

When we buy an appliance or furniture to be assembled, the most efficient way to do this is by following the instructions that the manufacturer has included in the package. Likewise, the most efficient way to live in this life is to follow the instructions of our “manufacturer”, that means God, our creator. And, for our benefit, instructions have been written and are available to be consulted at any time.

Whether we need to know the way God designed to raise our children, take our marriage or manage our finances, all the instructions are contained in the Bible. And as an industrial process is successful when both the ingredients or materials and the parameters of pressure, temperature, humidity and time are used as they were designed; Life on earth is completely successful when we follow the instructions of our divine designer.

Similarly, a deviation following a procedure may cause many problems, from an accident to damage in the final product. In our life, a deviation from God’s instructions brings very harmful consequences for us, so that, if not corrected, can bring results in our final destination will not be the best.

Let us follow God’s instructions for living the short time we have on earth and to achieve eternal life when we leave this world. Do not follow our own opinion or what someone else tells us. Let us consult our manual, the Bible, and follow exactly what it says, especially regarding what we must do to be saved. God bless you.

The Sick Person Seek Healing, but Who Believe Healthy Do Nothing

And Jesus answered and said to them, It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.  I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

Luke 5:31-32

There are many people who think they are good, they always act perfectly and, therefore, God has assured them a place in His heaven. Such people do not feel in your heart that must repent, they feel good, feel healthy, feel saints. For these people, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is meaningless because they do not identify with sin. Certainly, they also need God’s forgiveness but his pride and spiritual blindness prevents them for discovering how polluted and dirty they are.

Those who truly recognize their sins and discover love and forgiveness in Jesus are the fastest that will repent and accept Him. Jesus came to those sinners, the sick, the captives, addicts, prostitutes, prisoners, all the marginalized of the world, which are bad and they know it. For them, Jesus is the only way of salvation possible, so are those who will repent and receive Him in their hearts.

Do not feel bad if until now you are reading or hearing this message, you have taken the position of those who believe themselves as good. I am honest, for many years, I thought like you. I was one who believed myself good because I had not killed anyone and had never been in jail for a crime. It was not until I had a personal encounter with Jesus that I realized my mistake, that I was a sinner as anyone else and that without His sacrifice on the cross my future was hopelessly eternal perdition.

The first part to get help is to recognize the existence of the problem. A drunk cannot leave alcoholism until he does not realize within himself that to make it is harmful for him. In the same way, until we recognize our sinfulness we cannot find a solution to the greatest problem of every human being, a problem that has eternal consequences, which does not end when we die, but, in fact, is when more we are affected.

Today is the day the Lord has made in which you will recognize that you were not as healthy as you thought. Today is the day that God is telling you that you need the divine physician to cure your spiritual diseases. Today is the day to leave aside your own righteousness before your Creator and recognize how much you’ve failed Him. Jesus did not come for those who think they are righteous, but sinners that recognize, repent and accept in their heart. Today, He has come knocking on the door of your heart. Are you ready or willing to open the door? If so, then where you are reading or hearing this message, get right with God, acknowledge your sinfulness and ask Him to forgive you and help you straighten your way. God’s forgiveness is free; but we have to take the step of asking it and joyfully accept His beautiful gift. God bless you.
