God Fight Our Battles

So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.

2 Chronicles 20:24-25

Ignoring that we are in a war is to give advantage to the enemy. While we are asleep and enjoying what we believe is peace, the enemy is planning a mortal blow to annihilate us. The war is real and every day we have a new battle. God always warns that the enemy weaves. The warning from God comes through His Word, giving us signs, visions, his servants the prophets and the testimony that His Spirit who dwells in us gives us.

I will share another of the visions that the Lord has allowed me to see when I look for His presence. I was dressed as a soldier of ancient times and had a sword in my hand. I realized I was wearing the armor of God Ephesians 6:11-17: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I was on a battlefield. I drove a tank and was dressed as a modern soldier. Around me was the rest of the army who was with me, some were on foot, armed with machine guns as the soldiers of today; Others drove tanks like me; and many others rode horses carrying swords and armor, as former soldiers.

I also saw in the sky at our planes, armed with missiles; but also I saw a formidable army of angels in white robes and carrying golden swords, who flew faster than our aircraft and were advancing towards the enemy camp. All of us were going from west to east. The enemy army coming towards us from the east to the west; but I could not make good their characteristics because they were still far from us. I could only see them flying an army of demons dressed in red, who were to meet the angels to do battle.

I finally saw the field after the battle; but they were not the spiritual forces (angels and demons). The enemy army had been wiped out completely, but our army was totally unharmed and all of us we gathered valuable booty, as Jehoshaphat and the Jews did. We are in a war; but God is with us fighting every battle to give us victory. There’s nothing to fear. God bless you.

Overcoming the Enemy

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

We are in a spiritual war we want to accept it or not. If we are with God, we have as an enemy the devil who will try to harm us by all means possible. Are we going to run out of him? Of course not! We must know the strategies needed to overcome him. The Word of God instructs us about it. We learn to submit to God and resist our enemy to flee from us.

The first step to overcome the enemy according to James 4: 7 is to submit to God. The different Hebrew or Greek words, the original languages of the Bible, translated as subjecting mean: Enter, come, and go. Approaching; especially satisfy a debt; Genuflect, humiliate; Conquer, subjugate; Implement, say; Fix; Humble; be with him; be tested; Abide by the rules.

Everyone likes good results. Many Christians want to live a victorious life and overcome the enemy; but they want to do things their own way and not follow the rules of God. As we can see, we submit means to break our will to that of our Father. David Wilkerson wrote: You just cannot accept the will of God until you die to all self-will!

Our best model to submit to God is Jesus Christ. In Philippians 2:5-8 we read: Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Voluntarily submit means giving control of our lives. And submission is something that’s hard for us to fulfill because, by nature, human beings do not like to submit to anyone. However, according to James 4:7, it is necessary that we submit to God before anything else to defeat the enemy.

How can we resist the devil? The answer is found in 1 Peter 5:8-9:  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. Our resistance to the enemy implies remain vigilant and steadfast in the faith.

Faith is what helps us to resist our enemy. Ephesians 6:16 reaffirms: above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. In summary, our submission to God and stand firm in the faith is the right strategy to get that the enemy escapes from our lives. If we are disobedient to what God tells us and falter in faith, we will be an easy target for the enemy, who is constantly sending to mind his lies. God bless you.

The Enemy’s Goal

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

1 Peter 5:8

In a war in which two rival factions face, the goal of each is to defeat its enemy. Each army set strategies in order to achieve their goal. And the battles are always fought each tries to make the most damage to the enemy until it can beat it. In the spiritual world we have a clearly defined enemy, the devil, whose purpose is to make us the most damage to beat us.

I know there are people who do not want to hear them talk about the spiritual enemy. There are even those who refuse to accept that our adversary exists. But believe it or not, the spiritual world does exist and, on one side is God and the other the devil and all his wickedness. We must acquire knowledge of Scripture to know our enemy defend his attacks and emerge triumphant.

The Bible clearly describes our enemy and his objectives. In John 10:10 we read: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Like a thief, Luke 8:12 tells us what he wants to steal: Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. We cannot live ignoring that we have an enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy in order to prevent our salvation.

Ephesians 6:11-12 tells us what we should do about it: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. In this spiritual war we must be trained and equipped to defeat the enemy.

Ignore that we are in a spiritual war is to ignore the Word. In Revelation 12:17 we read: And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Our enemy is furious with each of those who leave the world and come to Christ. That’s why he makes war without quarter. And that is why we must be vigilant against his attacks.

Yes we have an enemy, but not to frighten us and let us run, but to be alert and aware of what we have to do. James 4:7 gives a clue to overcome: Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. We need not fear the enemy because God is more powerful than him and He is with us. And when the enemy wants to deceive you with lies remembering your past sin, remind him what his future. Revelation 20:10 says: The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. God bless you
