What Is Your Account Balance in Heaven?

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

The Word of God is like an onion which can take multiple layers. I think this is the third time I mention something about Matthew 6:19-21. And in each of the messages, there is something new. It is not that I have an excellent imagination but the Word of God is fully alive, allowing you to give us fresh revelation every time we read the same passage.

This time I will share another of the visions that the Lord has given me. I saw a similar scene at the American Old West: a desert with Rocky Mountains in the background; cacti and thorns; and, on the floor, skeletons of dead cattle long ago. Everything was very dry and desolate. I heard a voice say, “Walk and cross the wilderness which is before your eyes.” I obeyed the voice speaking to me and started walking. On my way I found many dangers: poisonous snakes, vultures flying over me waiting for my death, hot, thirsty, scorpions, coyotes and thorns of bushes and cactus.

Walking in the desert, I could not resist fatigue, thirst and hunger. Then I fell to the ground unconscious, surrounded by all the danger I had seen. As I lay on the ground, probably waiting for my death, I was raised in my spirit and I was in a heavenly place. In front of me was a large table full of delicious dishes. The Lord was sitting at the head of the long table and there was an empty place at the end of the table in front of Him, where He invited me to sit down to share with Him and the other guests. During the meal, the Lord spoke and reminded us what was written in Matthew 6:19-21: Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

At the end of eating, the Lord invited me to know my treasures in heaven; He showed me the balance of my heavenly account and all the wealth that I had accumulated in the Bank of Heaven. He said: “To the world you can feel that you lack many things, you’re alone and beaten in the middle of a desert, surrounded by many enemies who want to destroy you and take everything you have. But do not worry because your greatest treasures are already safe in heaven because it is in Me where you put your heart and I always honor my word.”

All earthly things will remain here when we leave this world. No matter how rich we have been, everything will stay here. Let us try to accumulate the greatest treasure in the heavens such way that our balance sheet there would be large enough. Let us not forget that the time we will pass out of this world is eternal. God bless you.

Where is your Treasure?

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

The heart of every person is in the same place where his or her treasure is. There are many people with heart in the wrong place! For most people, their treasure is their possessions or material goods: money, houses, jewelry, properties, yachts, airplanes, companies, etc. For others, their treasure is fame, recognition, prestige, professional title, etc. Other people cherish his or her partner and others hoard their children.

Certainly all these treasures are earthy and this will be when we leave this world and if, when this happens, our whole fortune is here and, knowing in advance that we will go empty handed, how sad will be our eternity! We would be poor most of the time because indisputably that the time we spend outside the world of the living will be infinitely greater than our earthly life.

The vast wisdom of Jesus led Him to clearly say no treasures on earth do because besides ephemeral, could also escape from our hands for theft or simply because of the natural deterioration. Accumulate the treasures in heaven because they are permanent and safe.

For several years I worked as a scientist in the Department of Research and Development in one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. One afternoon, when I finished my work, my manager called me into his office and informed me that this was my last day in the company. Obviously the news was not pleasant for me as I would fail to perceive a pretty good salary, and other fringe benefits.

I will not comment on all the trials which I have passed since then; but there is one detail that struck me shortly after losing my job. One afternoon I was driving by one of the highways of Florida. While driving my car, I was talking to God about my work situation, or rather, I talked about my unemployment.

God’s response was really great. He made a comparison with what I knew, my career, comparing the products obtained by working with Him versus those from any human work. God let me clear that all products of any human activity are perishable; but that the final product to work for Him is a timeless product that endures forever.

I do not know if I’ll get to possess wealth sometime in the rest of my life. And in a way, I’m not worried at all if it were to happen or not. What interests me and it’s where I put my best efforts, it is up treasures in heaven winning souls for the Lord. I ask you, where is your treasure in heaven or on earth? God bless you.
